20 October 2020Fire Accident

On October 20, 2020, shortly after departing out of homeport Hull England (at 8.30 pm BST) en route to Rotterdam Holland, the cruiseferry caught fire and lost power/propulsion. Carrying a total of 264 people (passengers and crew), Pride of Hull became stranded overnight in Humber River (close to Immingham).

The cruise ship lost power after flames engulfed the aft engine room. The fire was quickly extinguished by the crew. No injuries were reported. Back up generators continued to provide electricity to all decks. To the scene were deployed lifeboats and other assisting vessels by ABP (Associated British Ports) and HM Coastguard.

The fire was reported at ~9 pm BST (~10 pm UTC) and the drifting ship anchored in Humber River. To assist were initially deployed two tugboats and a lifeboat from RNLI Humber Lifeboat Station. Passenger evacuation was deemed unnecessary.

On October 21, the cruiseferry was towed back to Port Hull for damage assessment. Temporarily, the fleetmate Pride of Bruges (serving the Hull-Zeebrugge route) replaced Pride of Hull on the Hull-Rotterdam route.
