Review of Pacific Explorer deck 5 (Cabins-Lobby-Dining1)

Atrium (formerly named Grand Plaza) is a 4-decks high, open-floor design area with glass-walled panoramic lifts. Its Lobby level is a lounge of its own, featuring a grand piano and live entertainment during the day.

Charlie's Bar (portside, former “La Patisserie Bar”) is the lobby bar (open between 6 am – 11 pm), offering specialty coffees, pastries, desserts, also wine and liquor (freshly made tea costs US$3.30, specialty coffees US$3.30-4.50, liqueur coffees US$8.95 with complimentary pastries and cakes). 

Reception Desk (starboard) provides 24-hour passenger services and assistance – information, purser, booking, reservations.

Shore Tours Desk (portside) serves P&O Australia’s tours/excursions booking program, and also provides information on all tours and excursions organized in each of the current itinerary’s ports of call.

Waterfront Restaurant (formerly named Florentine Restaurant) is an aft-located complimentary Dining Room furnished in neutral colors (open for breakfast 7:30 a.m.-9:30 a.m., lunch 12-1 pm and dinner 5-9 pm). The menu for breakfast is straight out of a Sydney cafe. For lunch, guests can expect salads, soups, pasta, chicken pho, wraps, sandwiches, burgers, fish, cheesecake, pies, fresh fruit and cheese plates. Dinner offers include seared ahi tuna, ocean trout, lamb shanks, pork chops, chili chicken wings, vegetable moussaka, curry, ravioli, salads, pavlova, chocolate rolls, trifle, fruit and cheese plates. Tables can be reserved for dinner.

A Taste of Salt and Waterfront (US$99 for 7 courses with 7 matching wines, and a souvenir group photo) by celebrity chef Luke Mangan is held at the Chef's Table in a separate room provided within Waterfront Restaurant. The long table seats up to 14 people and reservations are essential. Those who buy a US$10 ticket to Love Riot burlesque circus receive an option to pay an extra US$19 for a 5-course dinner before the show. The Black Circus venue meals are served in a curtained-off section of the restaurant. The set menu includes veal pate, beef short rib, scallop tataki, crab bisque, and a chocolate sphere which is melted open by pouring on caramel sauce. Waiters perform magic tricks and dance before the Love Riot cast make a grand entrance to take guests to the theatre.
