Review of SS Bon Voyage deck 2 (Medoc)

Le Grand Fromage Restaurant is the ship’s single-seating capacity Dining Room with classic European and also regional cuisine specialties. The elegant and bright dining room has large windows on both sides and offers a mix of booths, 2-top, and roundtable seating. The food is high-quality, with locally sourced ingredients. The Restaurant is waiter-served and operates with preset dining times depending on the daily scheduled port activities. Breakfast (7-9 am) is buffet-style (large station located in the middle) with cereals, a selection of bread, pastries, French cheeses, cold meats, fruits, yoghurt, smoothies, sausage. There is a designated chef for made-to-order eggs, omelets, and other dishes ordered separately (at no extra charge). Lunch (12:30 – 2 pm) is usually waiter-served (excepting days with scheduled port excursions that require time changes). Lunch menu options include soups, carvery, salads bar, hot dishes, pasta and sandwiches, desserts, with local delicacies also provided (like sausages and wiener schnitzel). Dinners (7-7:30 pm /starting after the Gascogne Lounge’s cocktail hour) are more formal, waiter-served (until 9 pm), and feature an a la carte menu that includes plenty of regional favourites but also offers favourites like grilled steak and poached salmon. The 4-course dinner menu has several starters, 2 soups, 3 entrees (fish, meat, vegetarian), desserts, cheese plates. At dinner, the complimentary wines are itinerary-based (reflecting the sailing region). Outside of the MDR, there is a small tea and coffee station, open at all hours.

The dining room also hosts the ship’s formal events (including the Captain’s Welcome / Farewell dinners).

In the Lobby hall are the Reception, Tours Desk, and Shop. Reception Desk provides 24-hour guest services (assistance, information, Sauna/Spa reservations, Claret Room dinner reservations, purser services). Travel Desk (Uniworld Bon Voyage’s Cruise Director office) provides information on the daily-schedule program (onboard/port activities). It also serves the Uniworld line’s tours/excursions booking and future cruise booking programs. Boutique Shop (corner with glass cases) sells special occasion gifts, luxury jewelry, and watches, brand perfumes, and cosmetics, Uniworld-logoed merchandise, itinerary-based souvenirs.

La Cave des Vins is a specialty dining venue that comes with a surcharge. The intimate space is where connoisseurs can gather for wine pairing dinners and gourmet meals (made-to-order upon request). The set menu is a step above the cuisine offered in the main restaurant. The food & wine pairing dinner ranges between EUR 155-195 (about US$200-250) per person.

River Royale ship's Library was transformed into a passenger workstation with an internet-equipped computer. Guest Laundry is a self-service facility with a washing machine (detergent is supplied), dryer, and ironing board (no dry-cleaning). Aft is the boat’s machinery / Engine Room.

Medoc Deck cruise cabins from 201 to 231 are all Deluxe staterooms with Picture Window (non-opening).

One Lift (passenger elevator) connects all cabin decks (mid-level 2 of 3).
