The first 550-ton block of the new class of ship for MSC Cruises, MSC Seaside, was laid yesterday (March 4) at Fincantieri's Monfalcone yard. This event marked the beginning of the hull blocks' assembly into sections.
The next milestone in construction process is planned for April 21, when a coin ceremony will be conducted by MSC Cruises.
The biggest ship ever built in Italy, 154,000-ton MSC Seaside is scheduled to debut in November 2017, and will be named at PortMiami the following month.
MSC Cruises has ordered 2 Seaside-class ships, and has and option for a 3rd.
