Marnie Tihany, director of business development for Tihany Design, wife of Adam D. Tihany, Seabourn Encore’s designer, served as ship’s “madrina,” officially launching the vessel and cutting the cord to fill Encore’s construction dock with water. After the ceremony, Seabourn Encore was floated to the outfitting dock, in order to undergo final construction prior to being delivered at the end of 2016. Richard Meadows, Seabourn President, said:
“Seeing Seabourn Encore in the water is a very special moment and represents another important step toward the completion of our highly-anticipated ship. We continue to hear from our guests and travel industry partners about their excitement for this incredible ship, and they are just as eager as we are to welcome her to the Seabourn family later this year.”
Seabourn Encore will be the 4th ship of the fleet of Seabourn, carrying 600 passengers in verandah suites. The new vessel, inspired by the Odyssey Class of the line, will feature an additional deck and build upon Seabourn’s understated, yet elegant interior designs and intimate service.
Seabourn Encore is under construction at Fincantieri, Marghera shipyard and is expected to launch in December, 2016.
