Carnival to Raise Bottled Water Prices

Eight months ago, Carnival Cruise Line banned passengers from bringing bottled drinks onboard. Now the line has increased the price of bottled water by more than 30%.

According to the website of the company, the price for a 12-pack of water is already $3.99, up from $2.99, which amounts to 33 cents per 17-ounce bottle. Pre-ordered 12-packs were $2.99 under the old pricing, but the price went up to $4.99 when bought onboard. Now pricing is the same ($3.99), no matter when the water is purchased.

Carnival stopped allowing its passengers to bring their own bottled beverages in July 2015, in an effort to reduce alcohol smuggling. Bottles of wine, drinks in cans and cartons are permitted as carry-ons, with a limit of one 12-pack per guest for nonalcoholic drinks and one bottle of wine per guest for passengers 21 years of age or older.
