The regional representative in Australia & New Zealand for small cruise line Aranui Cruises, Laurent Wong, announced that the 2017 itinerary program of the cargo cruise ship Aranui 5 (, which replaced the Aranui 3 ship, had been extended because of the consumer demand.

Custom-built Aranui 5 made her maiden cruise from Papeete in December 2015.

The 2017 programme of the passenger freighter will include a couple of new 14-day voyages across 3 French Polynesian archipelagoes, which brings the total departures out of Papeete in 2017 to 19.

Laurent Wong said the company was thrilled with the reception Aranui 5 had received, especially out of Australasia region where bookings were tipped to double in 2016. The new ship offers 25% more capacity than Aranui 3, and most of its 2016 cruises were already booked. The company decided to add two more voyages in 2017.
