Thomson Cruises announced that its newest addition will be named TUI Discovery (initially announced as "Thomson Discovery"). The name is part of the re-brand to see the whole transition of Thomson to TUI over the next 18 months and part of the strategy to introduce the TUI brand to UK clients.
TUI Discovery will be the first of Thomson Cruises fleet to boast an all-inclusive drinks package as standard, and giving cruisers a wider choice of entertainment and dining included in the price of their vacation.
The TUI Discovery ship will also see the introduction of new technology to personalise and modernise the onboard experience. Passengers will be able to summon favourite tipples at the touch of a button from the sun loungers on adults-only deck, The Veranda, as well as to make dinner, entertainment and spa reservations at self-service kiosks, browse and buy photos of the cruise. A hi-tech shore excursion shop will showcase what to see in the destinations the ship will visit.
The managing director of TUI UK & Ireland, Nick Longman, said:
“TUI is a recognised and trusted brand in other countries and we want customers in the UK to get to know and love it too as we transition from Thomson to TUI. Investment in our product to enhance and personalise the customer experience is fundamental to the ethos of the TUI brand and what better way to demonstrate this than unveiling our newest addition as TUI Discovery and introducing all-inclusive as standard. The introduction of TUI Discovery marks a new era for our cruise business in the UK which will continue with the introduction of two more TUI ships to the fleet over the next three years.”
