NCL to offer weddings at sea, including same-gender ceremonies

Norwegian Cruise Line will begin to offer weddings at sea, including same-gender ceremonies.

The weddings will be performed by the ship's captain aboard Norwegian Getaway, Breakaway and on Norwegian Escape after her debut this fall.

Formerly, couples looking to marry had to do so on shore, first producing a marriage certificate before participating in an onboard ceremony. Now, Norwegian ship captains are enabled to perform the ceremonies with a marriage license issued by the Bahamas.

NCL will also offer absolutely legal same-gender ceremonies, only available in destinations where such marriages are recognized by local law, including Hawaii, Boston, New York, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Seattle, Miami, Port Canaveral and Tampa.

The new package "Wedding at Sea” includes a bridal bouquet, matching boutonniere, wedding cake, champagne toast, and an experienced wedding coordinator to aid with the details.

In addition to the weddings at sea, Norwegian Cruise Line offers harborside ceremonies, destination weddings and vow renewals.
