AIDAprima Christened in Hamburg

German cruise line AIDA Cruises officially christened its newest ship AIDAprima during the 827th Hamburg Port Anniversary at 22:15 on Saturday night (May 07).

13-year-old actress Emma Schweiger served as godmother. AIDAprima was accompanied by AIDAaura, a further member of the fleet, in the Hamburg Port’s anniversary.

Following the ceremony, AIDAprima is due to set sail on a 7-day voyage to the cities in Western Europe.

The first newbuild of the line, of a new ship generation, was delivered from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in Nagasaki on March 14. AIDAprima is able to accommodate 3300 passengers and more than 900 crew members.

The ship, featuring a length of 300 m and a width of over 37 m, reached her German homeport on April 21.
