Carnival Cruise Line has carried 500,000 passengers since entering Australian market in 2012 when the 88,500 GT Carnival Spirit was permanently homeported in Sydney. The Spirit ship has been joined by her sister Carnival Legend for Australian summer seasons since 2014.

The Anderson family, first-time cruisers from Sydney suburb of Davidson, tipped the scales to half a million passengers when they sailed to New Caledonia on Carnival Spirit this month.

Jennifer Vandekreeke, VP Australasia, said that reaching the half million mark less than 4 years after debuting in Australia was testament to company’s popularity in local market. Vandekreeke also paid tribute to the ‘strong and supportive partnerships’ the cruise line has with local travel agents. She added:

‘They embraced our free-spirited, fun-loving ethos right from the beginning and have played a big part in helping us reach this great milestone’.
