Repairs are progressing at Ketchikan's Berth 3 in Alaska, damaged on June 3 by Celebrity Infinity, when the ship tried to dock in high winds. The work started June 7. The pier is contractually claimed to be useable no later than July 5.
Turnagain Marine Construction, based in Anchorage, was awarded the emergency repairs in the amount of US$928,580.
Meanwhile, cruise ships have been using the 3 other piers of Ketchikan or tender passengers to the vicinity of Berth 3.
Between June 3 and July 5, 35 port calls were booked for Berth 3, including scheduled tenders to the pier, according to CLIA Alaska.
