Dockworkers at Piraeus voted to continue industrial action with their current strike expected to last until June 21.

Carnival Vista is due to arrive tomorrow, June 20 (Monday) for an overnight stay and turnaround. Royal Caribbean, Princess Cruises and other cruise lines have visited Athens successfully in recent weeks during the strikes.

The only turnaround of Royal Caribbean in June is Azamara Journey, which is planned to go ahead as scheduled on June 23. Around 67,000 cruise passengers are expected to visit Piraeus in June, 25,000-30,000 from homeporting ships and 45,000-50,000 on transit calls.

Dockworkers are protesting job losses under concession contract signed by Taiped, Greece’s privatisation agency, and China’s Cosco Pacific, under which Cosco is buying 67% stake in the port of Piraeus, a deal worth some $700m.
