Royal Caribbean announced yesterday that Australia would welcome Ovation of the Seas to homeport in Sydney for winter 2016-2017.

The Ovation was previously announced as going to China after her launch in 2016. It was thought the Chinese deployment would be year-round, but now it seems the ship is set to rotate between Australia and China.

According to the RCI Regional vice president Asia Pacific, Gavin Smith, Royal Caribbean had been breaking the boundaries in Australian cruising since they had arrived in 2007 but today, they had completely changed the face of the cruise industry, "making the single largest investment in Australia by any cruise line”. " Ovation of the Seas would completely redefine the idea of cruising in Australia by offering a host of never-before-seen technologies and features.

Ovation of the Seas is the 5th ship in Royal Caribbean's Australian fleet for 2016-2017 winter, joining 4 other RCI ships – Legend of the Seas in Brisbane and Explorer, Radiance and Voyager of the Seas in Sydney.

Additional details for the winter 2016-2017 season of Royal Caribbean will be revealed at the end of April.
