Cruise Line Forced to Cancel Funchal Call Due to Madeira Wildfire

Wildfire blazing through Madeira, Portugal affected at least one cruise itinerary. P&O Cruises canceled Azura's August 11 visit to Funchal, where flames started to spread Tuesday night. The cruise ship will instead offer a day at sea.



The fire was caused by high temperatures and strong winds. According to Associated Press, it killed 4 and injured hundreds. More than 1,000 tourists and residents have been evacuated.

Cruise ships of Costa and AIDA are scheduled to call at the capital city early next week.
