Hurricane Gaston Forces Itinerary Changes

As the height of hurricane season is close by, Hurricane Gaston prompted changes to at least one itinerary.

Royal Caribbean's current 4-night Empress of the Seas cruise was altered in order to avoid the storm. The sailing, round-trip from Miami, visited Coco Cay as scheduled August 26 but offered a sea day instead of a call at Nassau August 27. The ship skipped a planned visit to Key West August 28 and, instead, spend a day at sea before arriving back in Miami today, August 29.

According to the National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Gaston is around 620 miles east of Bermuda and traveling northwest, bringing winds of up to 90 miles per hour. The storm is supposed to strengthen over the next 2 days.
