As Tropical Storm Hermine moved northeast, Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Breakaway departed New York early, at 1:30 p.m. yesterday, to avoid the path of the storm.

In order to speed up embarkation process, the line asked passengers to start check-in at 9:30 a.m.

In a statement NCL said:

"The safety and security of our guests is our number one priority. We are also closely monitoring the path of Tropical Storm Hermine.

"We ask that our guests plan to arrive early for check-in so that the ship is able to depart on this revised schedule to avoid the storm’s path."

Dangerous storm surges continued along the coast from Virginia to New Jersey. Hermine is expected to intensify to hurricane force today.

Norwegian Breakaway departed New York yesterday, September 4, on a 7-night return cruise to Bermuda. The vessel is scheduled to arrive in Bermuda September 7, following 2 sea days.
