Juneau Empire reported that a passenger went overboard from Norwegian Pearl in Lynn Canal, according to Alaska State Trooper spokesman. However, several Norwegian Cruise Line crew members indicated that the woman was a crew member.

Sitka Sentinel said the woman was reported missing from the ship on Thursday at 5:30 a.m. when she was noticed to be absent from her cabin. The security personnel of NCL later looked at CCTV which revealed she had gone overboard while Norwegian Pearl was under-way.

The Sitka Coast Guard launched a helicopter and the Juneau station launched 45-foot Coast Guard Cutter Liberty.  The searches were reportedly suspended on September 9.
