More Than 230 Panama Canal Cruise Transits Expected During 2016-2017 season

Over 230 cruise ship transits are currently booked for Panama Canal during the 2016-17 cruise season, which starts October 4 with the transit of Princess Cruises' Coral Princess on a voyage out of Los Angeles, California, to US East Coast.

Similar to previous years, vessels from Princess Cruises, Holland America Line, Norwegian Cruise Line and Celebrity Cruises will offer itineraries with partial or full transits.

Panama Canal

Smaller cruise ships will also sail through the Panama Canal waterway, including National Geographic Sea Lion and Safari Voyager, with shorter 8- and 7-day itineraries, respectively, along Central America's west coast.

During the upcoming season, Noble Caledonia, Regent Seven Seas Cruises and Holland America will have vessels transiting with new itineraries. Seven Seas Explorer will transit on Jan 2, ms Eurodam Apr 13 and Hebridean Sky Apr 17.  

After over 160 successful transits through the new locks, Panama Canal is accepting booking requests for Neopanamax passenger ships for transit dates beginning Apr 1, 2017.

11 reservations have been made to date for passenger vessels to transit the expanded Canal beginning October 2017, for 2017-2018 season.
