Cruise Ships to Boost Tourism in Sitka 2017

With Holland America putting bigger cruise ships on Southeast Alaska run and other major lines adding Sitka calls, the town can expect a 20% increase in cruise ship visitors in 2017, according to Chris McGraw, manager of Old Sitka dock.

Mr. McGraw said he soon heard that on some runs ms Amsterdam will be replaced by the bigger ms Oosterdam, reported Daily Sitka Sentinel.

This is not only good for his company but for various tourist-related businesses, including tour companies, enterprises and shops that relate directly to cruise industry. Some of these, including McGraw-operated buses to town from the dock, have had hard time filling positions as the schedule has been sporadic.
