Wartsila Funa is supplying unique external lighting system for the new cruise ship Genting Dream, currently under construction at Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. The 150,000 GRT vessel was ordered by Dream Cruises, part of Genting Hong Kong, a based in Asia global leisure company.

The order with Wartsila was placed in the first quarter of 2016. The Dynamic Exterior Lighting concept provides a stunning visual effect to the ship’s exterior profile. The technology is based on customised LED RGBW lighting devices, all of which individually controlled to provide colour, movement and video effects.

Genting Dream is the first of 2 cruise liners being built for the company. It has been purpose-built for the Chinese and other Asian markets. It will accommodate 3400 passengers and 2000 crew, and is scheduled to be in operation from November this year. Its sister ship, the World Dream, is scheduled for delivery in late 2017.
