Scheduled cruise calls have been rerouted as the dangerous Category 3 hurricane Nicole is 'closing in on Bermuda' today, according to the Miami-based National Hurricane Center.

'Bermuda's infrastructure is very prepared for weather events of this kind as a result of strict building codes and a well-equipped recovery plan that is already on standby for activation,' the Bermuda Tourism Authority said in a statement, adding that 'Hotels will continue to host guests during the storm.'

Tourism Authority added:

'Bermuda is already planning for a speedy recovery from Hurricane Nicole as it has done time and again when faced with severe tropical weather.

'The island bounces back quickly from storms; hospitality is in our blood,' the statement said. 'We take pride in caring for visitors currently on-island and will be ready to welcome new ones by the end of the week.'
