Pacific Princess, which last Friday suffered under the waterline portside damage when she hit a breakwater entering Nice, left the French Riveira port yesterday and headed for repairs in Genoa.

According to the local port authority the ship, carrying 669 passengers, suffered damage during bad weather conditions. No one was injured during the accident.

The cruise was cut short on day 10 of a 12 day trip that departed Venice October 4, and was scheduled to end on October 16 in Barcelona

All guests were offered accommodation where required and many stayed for the weekend in Nice.

A spokesman for Princess announced that the company was looking to conclude the repairs in time for the next sailing of Pacific Princess on October 28.

'We are keeping guests who are due to sail on this cruise updated at all times,' he added.
