Scanship Awarded Contracts for Hurtigruten Newbuilds

Scanship has won contracts to supply its revolutionary total clean ship systems for the 2 polar-class expedition new ships to be built for Hurtigruten's fleet at Kleven Verft in Ulsteinvik, Norway.

The scope of supply features food waste processing, garbage handling and wastewater treatment with systems for transfer, collecting and purification.

'These Scanship clean tech systems will enable Hurtigruten to comply with the highest environmental discharge standards,' said Scanship ceo Henrik Badin.

Scanship will deliver Jets vacuum solutions with toilets and black water collecting, which confirms the cooperation between Scanship and Jets Vacuum in cruise industry. The Scanship advanced wastewater purification is to be certified per IMO Marpol MEPC 227(64) chapter 4.2 with nutrient removal to be enforced in special areas from 2020.

All equipment will be delivered in 2017 and 2018.
