P&O Cruises' ship Azura was forced to extend her call in Ponta Delgarda, the Azores staying overnight and spending an extra port day yesterday due to a technical issue.

The 3,100-passenger Azura arrived in Ponta Delgada November 1 as the first port visit of a 14-night transatlantic cruise to the Caribbean. The ship left Southampton October 28.

P&O Cruises said in a statement:

"Due to a technical issue Azura will remain in Ponta Delgarda today and guests have an additional day ashore. The captain is keeping guests updated and hopes to depart, with no impact to the onward itinerary, later this evening."

Azura was expected to continue her journey last evening and arrive in Philipsburg St Maarten on schedule, November 7, with further visits to Saint Lucia, Dominica, Grenada and Barbados.
