Oceania Cruises revealed plans to homeport one of its smaller cruise ships, ms Insignia, in New York during summer and fall seasons in 2017 and 2018. This way Oceania will become the only upscale cruise line to offer regular cruises from the city.
The 684-passenger vessel will sail from Manhattan cruise terminal on various itineraries in 2017 and 2018. In 2017 she will arrive from Reykjavik in late July and embark on Canada & New England cruises (with some stopping in Bermuda) until the end of October 2017. After a Caribbean winter season and another world cruise, ms Insignia returns to New York in summer 2018 for the same cycle.
In a release, Bob Binder, Oceania President and CEO, called the line, known for its "foodie" experiences, as the "perfect match for New York."
