Cunard’s trio of Queens - flagship Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria, welcomed the new Royal Baby with simultaneous ships’ whistles (foghorns) at noon yesterday.

Following the Magpie rhyme beginning ‘One for sorrow, Two for joy’, Cunard's Queens sounded their whistles 3 times in unison, ‘Three for a girl (Four for a boy)’.

The three cruise ships arrive into Southampton today, May 3, to inaugurate the start of the 175th anniversary year of Cunard.

Commodore of the Fleet, Christopher Rynd said it was wonderful to have the opportunity to celebrate, at the same time, the arrival of the new Royal baby girl and the 175 anniversary year of the company in the UK.

That same afternoon, led by Queen Mary 2 the magnificent trio sailed together in daylight, for the first time ever, from Southampton. Cunard's Three Queens will be setting off on Summer season of Mediterranean fly-cruises, Transatlantic Crossings, Scandinavian and southern European voyages, with Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria heading for New York, Hamburg and Saint Peter Port (Guernsey) respectively.
