According to the Miami Herald, Carnival Cruise Line will homeport its newest and largest ship Carnival Vista in Miami.

Carnival Vista will spend her inaugural season in Europe and after the christening ceremony in New York, she should start Miami service in December 2016.

The extended deal between PortMiami and Carnival Corp. requires the line to sail Vista out of Miami at least 24 times in a 3-year period.

Jennifer De La Cruz, Carnival spokeswoman, confirmed that the Vista ship will be homeported in Miami. Specifics on itineraries will be announced on February 12.

Carnival Vista will launch in Italy on May 1, 2016. The 3,954-passenger ship will keep with the line's "Fun Ships" tagline and will feature the first-at-sea IMAX theater, the two-lane suspended open-air course SkyRide and Carnival's largest WaterWorks aqua park with a more than 450-feet long water tube slide.

After a season of 18 European sailings, Carnival Vista will embark on a two-week-long transatlantic crossing on Oct 21, 2016, and on November 3 will be welcomed in New York City. Before homeporting in Miami, the ship will operate a number of sailings from New York.
