The Greek cruise market is expecting a serious contraction in 2017, according to figures on cruise calls scheduled for ports in Greece next year.

Head of the European arm of CLIA (Cruise Lines International Association) and chief executive officer at Celestyal Cruises, Kyriakos Anastasiadis, estimated that there would be 30% fewer stops by cruise ships at Greek ports next year compared to 2016.

The geopolitical uncertainty in the broader region resulted in cruise passengers, mainly from North America, picking other routes for their cruise holiday in 2017, but it will likely change should conditions in Mediterranean region improve.
