STX France and 2 Owners Sign Contracts for 8 Ships

The French cruise ship builder STX France (St Nazaire) and 2 of its customers signed firm building contracts covering 8 ships that have been under preliminary contract.

The 2nd largest cruise company in the world, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. (RCCL), will receive the 4th Oasis class unit (Symphony Of The Seas) with designated hull number B34, in 2018 spring. A 5th ship of the 227,000 GT / Oasis-class (C34) will follow in the middle of 2021.

RCCL will also take delivery of the first 117,000 gross ton Edge class unit (J34 / Celebrity Edge) in the autumn of 2018 and the second ship will follow in the beginning of 2020 (K34 / Celebrity Beyond). Third and fourth units are due in the autumn of 2021 (tbn) and 2022 (tbn). These ships have been designated the hull numbers L34 and M34.

Furthermore, the French shipbuilder has signed a firm contract with MSC Cruises, the world’s 4th largest cruise ship operator, to build two Meraviglia Plus class vessels of 177,000 gross tons and the vessels are due for delivery in 2019 and 2020 respectively, STX France said in a statement.
