The latest ship of P&O Cruises Australia, Pacific Explorer, will be adorned with a Southern Cross, national symbol in Australia and New Zealand. It's incorporated in the national flags, in the national anthem of Australia and in the victory song of the Australian cricket team, ‘Under the Southern Cross I Stand.’

The 5-star celestial constellation, Southern Hemisphere feature of brilliant night sky and the Milky Way, has guided generations of seamen.

President Sture Myrmell said:

‘We couldn’t think of a more powerful symbol to launch Pacific Explorer’s new era of local cruising than the Southern Cross'.

A major makeover in Singapore at Sembcorp Marine Admiralty Yard will convert Princess Cruises’ 77,000 GT Dawn Princess into Pacific Explorer. The ship will make her first South Pacific sailing from Sydney on June 22 wearing the Southern Cross livery and her new name.

Pacific Explorer is a replacement for resident Pacific Pearl which was sold to Cruise & Maritime Voyages, departing fleet in April.
