The largest cruise ship in the world, Harmony of the Seas, docked for the first time in Puerto Rico as the United States' territory reports a tourism boost amid economic crisis.

Royal Caribbean's vessel arrived on Wednesday, December 28, in the historic district of the capital city San Juan. Harmony of the Seas accommodates up to 2,300 crew members and 6,700 passengers.

The arrival follows US$8 million renovation of the port. Gov. Alejandro Garcia Padilla said Puerto Rico expected to welcome a record 1.7M cruise ship passengers in 2017.
