By ,   January 16, 2017 ,   Accidents

Heavy fog once again closed Port of Galveston and a few cruise ships were unable to leave the port until its reopening.  While Carnival Freedom and Carninval Valor were able to dock, Carnival Breeze remained at sea and was unable to return to port at the time.

Carnival Cruise Line gave the following update on 3 of their cruise ships:

  • Carnival Valor was scheduled to operate a 4-day cruise departing ydesteray and calling in Progreso, Mexico, versus the originally scheduled 5-day cruise departing Saturday with two ports of call, one in Cozumel and one in Progreso. Guests who choose to sail on the modified itinerary will receive a one-day prorated refund. Guests also have the option of cancelling.
  • Carnival Freedom was docked at a cargo terminal at Port of Galveston given that no additional cruise terminals were available at this time. The cargo terminal is not equipped with Customs & Border Protection processing stations so guests were unable to disembark the ship. When Carnival Valor departed Galveston later on Sunday, Carnival Freedom repositioned to Cruise Terminal 1.

Once debark is completed the cruise line will commence embarkation for the new cruise and the ship will operate a 6-day cruise calling in Grand Cayman and Cozumel versus the originally scheduled 7-day one. Based on the shortened duration, the call to Ocho Rios, Jamaica will be cancelled.

Guests who opt to sail on the modified itinerary will receive a one-day pro-rated refund. Guests also have the option of cancelling.

  • Carnival Breeze is now scheduled to operate a 6-day cruise departing Monday from Galveston instead of the originally scheduled 7-day cruise, weather permitting. Specific itinerary details for the next voyage will be finalized once the line have confirmation of the ship’s arrival time in Galveston.

Guests who opt to sail on the modified itinerary will receive a one-day pro-rated refund. Guests also have the option of cancelling.
