Viking Sky delivery delayed

Viking Ocean Cruises announced that the delivery of Viking Sky had been pushed back with eight months - from 2016 (June) to 2017 (February). Construction works will be moved alongside Viking Sea at Ancona facility of Fincantieri, Italy.

According to the line that would concentrate efforts and allow for a streamlined, more efficient process. In order to impact fewer number of booked guests, Viking has changed the 2016 June-September deployments for both Viking Sky and Viking Sea. In total, ten sailings (5 for each of the ships) will be redeployed.

47,800-GT, 930-passenger mv Viking Sky is a planned vessel for Viking Ocean Cruises, sister to two cruise ships, Viking Sea and Viking Star. Viking Sky will have two swimming pools (main and Infinity), a spa and a fitness center. The ship will also feature two restaurants and two lounges (Piano and Explorers), the World cafe, lobby bar, wintergarden and aquavit terrace. Other perks include a sports deck, theatre and various shops.

Sister ship Viking Star will debut on 17 May 2015 in Bergen, Norway. Trude Drevland, Mayor of Bergen, will act as godmother of the first Viking ocean ship.
