Today (May 14), in the early morning, the youngest ship of TUI Cruises, Mein Schiff 4, arrived for her maiden call in the port of Kiel. Kiel is the first port to welcome the new premium-class vessel, only six days after her delivery from Meyer Turku shipyad.

Accompanied by fountains of a harbour tug, the 99,526 GT, 293.5-meter ship entered the Fjord. Many onlookers gathered along the shore and watched Mein Schiff 4 berthing at Ostseekai cruise terminal. During the traditional board reception, Mayor of Kiel, Dr Ulf Kämpfer and Managing Director Port of Kiel, Dr Dirk Claus, handed over the commemorative 1st call plaque to CEO TUI Cruises, Wybcke Meier, and Capt. Kjell Holm.

On June 5, the newbuild will be christened by swimming legend Franziska van Almsick, but before that, the cruise ship leaves for several short introductory sailings and will be seen at Ostseekai for 3 times within a few days (May 17 and 18, May 20, May 25 and 26).

The subsequent maiden voyage leads Mein Schiff 4 to the Baltic followed by 11 more voyages departing from Kiel.

TUI has been a frequent caller in Kiel since 2009. Mein Schiff 4 maiden call is also the 77th visit of TUI Cruises' ship to the State Capital of Schleswig-Holstein.
