Passenger Medevaced From Carnival Cruise Ship

The Coast Guard has medevaced a 66-year-old passenger from a Carnival cruise ship around 170 nautical miles south of Mobile on Wednesday, June 7.

The Coast Guard 8th District Heartland News reported that Coast Guard Sector Mobile had learned of a man who suffered heart-attack symptoms while on Carnival Fantasy. The passenger reportedly requested a medevac.

Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew, with the help of watchstanders, was able to hoist the man, along with ship's nurse, and carry them to University Medical Center, New Orleans.

Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile HC-144 Ocean Sentry fixed-wing aircrew aided the medevac. 

The condition of the passenger is unknown at the time.
