Holland America Line's ms Prinsendam made a maiden visit to Bantry Bay Harbour, Ireland yesterday, June 12, on what was the first call of a cruise ship to Bantry in almost 30 years.

Carrying more than 800 passengers, the ms Prinsendam ship arrived in the early morning hours and stayed until evening ensuring passengers get every chance to explore the area.

According to Bantry Bay Port Company Harbour Master Capt. Paul O’Regan, they were very encouraged by Holland America's commitment to call to Bantry and that was an exciting time for the whole of West Cork.

In August, Bantry Bay Port Company will officially open its new inner harbour development that has seen an investment of EUR 9.5 million over the last year. The facility will greatly enhance marine tourism activity in the region and will also help accommodate future cruise calls.
