On Tuesday, June 20, the next building stage of Hanseatic Nature, the first of 2 Hapag-Lloyd expedition newbuilds, began with the keel laying.

At VARD shipyard in Tulcea, Romania, CEO of Hapag-Lloyd Cruises Karl J. Pojer, placed a lucky coin inside the steel block. The coin, welded into the block, will accompany the vessel on all its future voyages.

The keel of Hanseatic Nature consists of 2 steel blocks: each block is 9 m long, 11 m wide, 1,5 m high and weighs 33 tons.

The christening & maiden cruise of Hanseatic Nature are planned for April 2019. The 2nd ship, Hanseatic Inspiration, will launch 6 months later in October 2019.
