Eight cruise ships have come into Vancouver's downtown harbour over Canada Day long weekend. That is expected to have a great impact on local businesses.
According to the Port of Vancouver, the estimated economic benefit of travellers disembarking from their ocean ships is pegged as high as $24M. That is based on roughly $3M per liner from passengers dropping cash on restaurants, hotel stays, transportation and tours during their stay.
Those passengers, coupled with Canada Day tourists and sunny weather, led to downtown Vancouver being crowded.
Port of Vancouver estimated a record number of tourists to pass through Canada Place July 1, 2 & 3.
