Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines’ fleet including Balmoral, Black Watch, Boudicca and Braemar, will all be coming together in the second city of Norway, Bergen (the ‘Gateway to the Fjords’), on July 28, 2015 (Tuesday), for a historic joint event.
This ‘4Bs in Bergen’ celebration, named after the initial letters of the four Fred. Olsen ships, is the first time ever that Fred. Olsen's fleet has converged in one place. It is expected to be an exciting day for both the line's guests (nearly 4,000 coming that day), and the city of Bergen.
The four ships will all be arriving at 8 a.m. on July 28 at the Port of Bergen, and will be departing at 6 p.m. The quartet will be operating on the following schedules:
The festivities on the day are expected to include Norwegian-themed marching drummers, singers and bands on the quayside, a schedule of onboard entertainment (afternoon show, deck party, live bands), the chance to visit the four vessels as they are berthed, an inter-ship treasure hunt (with teams competing against each other to complete the course around Bergen city in the fastest time and win £200 voucher for a future Fred. Olsen sailing), a spectacular ‘water cannon’ send–off, when all four ships leave the Port of Bergen in formation, and much more.
According to Mike Rodwell, Managing Director of Fred. Olsen, the four ships had been calling at the Port of Bergen every year since 1997. The number of days they had spent in Bergen was 176 in total, from 2006 to 2015.
In 2015 Fred. Olsen will be celebrating a total of 17 cruise calls at Bergen for the year, comprising visits by 17,000 guests. Balmoral, Black Watch and Boudicca will be making four calls each, and Braemar - five.
