Cruise Passenger Medevaced From Grand Princess

A sick cruise passenger had to be airlifted off a Princess Cruises ship in Straight of Juan de Fuca Monday night, August 14, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

Coast Guard Sector Puget Sound received a call from Grand Princess around 5:40 p.m. concerning a 70-year-old man who needed surgery and CT-Scan.

An Air Station Port Angeles crew arrived on scene and safely hoisted the passenger into their MH-65 Dolphin helicopter.

The man was then transferred to Airlift Northwest helicopter and taken in Seattle to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition.

Grand Princess had just exited Straight of Juan de Fuca and was sailing to San Francisco.
