Carnival cruise ship returned to port due to medical emergency. The cruise has not been canceled. The condition of the patient did not allow to be airlifted or boated off of the vessel.

Carnival Fantasy was returned to Mobile Alabama Cruise Terminal at around 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 18. The ship turned around in the Gulf, arrived at Mobile Bay's mouth and then headed back to the terminal.

The ship was on the 2nd day of a 4-day cruise which departed Port of Mobile and was forced to miss a scheduled visit to Cozumel. The remainder of the cruise was spent at sea.

According to a Carnival statement, all passengers will receive a 50% refund of their fare and a 50% credit on a future Carnival sailing. In addition, any passengers wishing to disembark in Mobile had the opportunity to do so and received a full refund of their fare.
