$2 Million Donated by Carnival to Harvey Relief Efforts

Carnival Cruise Line, parent company, Carnival Corp. & plc, and Micky & Madeleine Arison Family Foundation are donating a minimum of US$2 million to relief and rebuilding efforts in Gulf Coast region in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, which was the first Category IV hurricane to make landfall in the U.S. since 2004.

Carnival Cruises and Carnival Foundation are each donating US$500,000 to Harvey disaster relief efforts, for reaching a total donation of US$1 million from the company. Carnival Corp. Chairman Micky Arison and his wife are matching the commitment of the corporation with a US$1 million donation from Micky and Madeleine Arison Family Foundation.

Carnival Cruises

To generate additional relief funds, passengers sailing on certain Carnival cruises will have the opportunity to make a donation whilst checking in for their voyage. The corporation's employees and brands will be also participating.

Hurricane Harvey has since weakened to tropical storm which has dumped over 50 inches (127 cm) of rain in parts of Southeast Texas.

Preparations continue to reopen Port of Galveston.
