MSC Cruises, the largest privately-owned cruise line in the world and market leader in the Mediterranean, announced sales open for the inaugural summer 2017 voyages of MSC Meraviglia, the first of MSC next generation of ships.

Sales on the ground-breaking 315-metre ship will be open at first to MSC Club members. Then, on July 5, sales will open to meet the strong demand from other cruisers and experienced travelers.

MSC Meraviglia will be the biggest and most innovative ship ever built by an European-based line. The cutting-edge 167,600-GRT, 5,700-guest ship, scheduled for delivery in May 2017, will spend her first summer in the western Mediterranean. Meraviglia will also be the first with three homeports: Barcelona, Genoa and Marseille. The ship will be able to call at any port in the world, which means that travelers from the over 150 countries, from which MSC sources its passengers, will be able to experience more of the best destinations.

Meraviglia will feature a wide range of services - from mobile applications to ‘Near Field Communication’ technology and use of smart devices throughout the vessel, thus enabling passengers to interact with the onboard community or plan their activities. The technology will allow guests to access their cabins, make payments, geo-locate kids, friends and locations onboard using their smartphone or cruise card. Another industry first feature is a 480-sq.metre LED screen, forming the entire ceiling of the interior promenade.

Entertainment options will be widely available, from games, live music, Las Vegas and  Broadway-style theatrical performances, without forgetting parents and kids - with partnerships with global brands Chicco and Lego that further exemplify the commitment of the company to creating unforgettable holidays.

Fine food is the centrepiece of every MSC sailing, with an array of delicious choices ranging from formal dining in luxury restaurants to a buffet with “visible kitchen” featuring dedicated sections, freshly cooked by highly-trained chefs. Another recent partnership was struck with Eataly - the Italian restaurant and marketplace brand, which promotes understanding of high-quality food and adds high-end Italian cuisine to the fleet’s international and Mediterranean dining offering.

MSC Meraviglia is the first of the two identical ships currently on order from STX France. Meraviglia's sister ship will enter into service in 2019. MSC Cruises also has options for further two Vista project vessels to be delivered by 2022.
