Work Starts on New Princess Ship

The steel cutting of the newest ship for Princess Cruises took place on Friday, September 8, at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy.

The newbuild (Sky Princess) will be the 4th edition of the class, following “Royal”, "Regal” and “Majestic”, delivered by the same yard in 2013, 2014 and 2017.

Works for the building of a bow section for the unit started in November 2016 at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Naples (Castellammare di Stabia). The section will be transported by sea and eventually assembled to the rest of the ship unit in Monfalcone. Delivery is scheduled by the end of 2019.

The new 145,000 GT unit will be able to accommodate a total of 4,250 passengers.
