68 Passengers Rescued From Stricken Robben Island Ferry

An estimated 68 passengers were rescued from a Robben Island ferry off Cape Town.

The ferry got into trouble in rough seas on Friday afternoon.

The alarm was raised at around 2:20 p.m. when Thandi ferry is believed to have been bringing travellers back to Cape Town from the isle.

National Sea Rescue Institute rescue divers transfered passengers via life rafts from Thandi to Madiba 1‚ another Robben Island ferry‚ which went to rescue.

Madiba 1 transported the travellers to Nelson Mandela Gateway at V&A Waterfront. 3 of them were carried ashore in stretchers. There is no information on their injuries.
