VIDEO: Costa Holds Coin Ceremony for Its Newest Cruise Ship

Costa Cruises today (November 1) carried out a coin ceremony for its newest liner Costa Venezia at Fincantieri shipyard, Monfalcone.

Due to enter service in 2019, the newbuild will be the first Costa ship constructed and designed specifically for Chinese passengers.

The 135,500 GT Costa Venezia will feature 2,116 passenger cabins able to accommodate a total of 5,260 guests. The design of the vessel will be dedicated to Venice city.

The inaugural voyage of Costa Venezia is scheduled for early March 2019 from Trieste to Shanghai, visiting countries like Greece, Israel, the UAE, Malaysia, Vietnam, Japan.

A 2nd ship specially designed for Chinese passengers, sister to Costa Venezia, is due to be delivered by Fincantieri 2020.

Costa Cruises' new ships for Asia will be the 13th and 14th built in Italy by Fincantieri, with a total investment of more than EUR 6 billion.

After the arrival of Costa Venezia, the cruise company will reposition Costa Fortuna back to the Mediterranean.
