Princess Cruises opened its first whisky bar on Australia-based Dawn Princess

63 varieties of whisky from all around the world are already available with bartenders right on hand to provide advice, serve by the nip and create a daily flight of 3 whiskies in order to sample different flavours.

The menu draws on Scottish whiskies coming from remote regions such as Talkiser, the classic American bourbons including Knob Hill, and local drops like South Island Single Malt from New Zealand and Bakery Hill's Double Wood from Melbourne.

Stuart Allison, Princess' vice president Australia & New Zealand, said that renewed interest in whisky had prompted the decision to create a specialist menu in the existing bar "Magnums" during the refurbishment of Dawn Princess in May.

He added that the new concept made whisky approachable for all their guests so they thought it would be a big hit, with passengers able to enjoy a drink after dinner or during a lazy day at sea.
