Disney Cruise Line will host a “Star Wars Day at Sea” in 2016. Disney guests will be able to celebrate the beloved sci-fi series during a day-long celebration aboard 8 special sailings on Disney Fantasy.
According to Disney, Star Wars Day at Sea combines the magic of Disney, the power of the Force, and the excitement of cruising for an “out-of-this-galaxy experience”.
The brand-new celebration will feature Star Wars-themed activities, including meet-and-greets with characters, unique beverage and food offerings, special merchandise, and a deck party.
Chewbacca, Darth Vader, Stormtroopers, Boba Fett and other characters from Star Wars galaxy will be on board for meet and greets, and roaming on deck or elsewhere around the ship. All guests will be encouraged to dress up in stellar costumes.
A shipboard version of the Jedi Training Academy will welcome young Jedi hopefuls – the so-called “Padawans” – to learn light-saber moves from Jedi Masters. They will then be able to use the Force and face off in the final test against Darth Vader.
Kids and families will enjoy Star Wars trivia games and friendly competition, covering fun facts from the film. Star Wars-themed games, arts & crafts, and other activities will be offered for Younglings in Oceaneer Lab and Oceaneer Club throughout the day.
In the evening, adults who enter the night club on board will feel like they stepped into Mos Eisley cantina scene with characters, cantina music and Star Wars-themed specialty cocktails.
Guests will watch the first 6 Star Wars films and follow Obi-Wan Kenobi, Darth Vader, Luke and Leia along the epic journey. Also featured will be episodes of the new "Star Wars Rebels” Disney XD animated series.
The evening deck party, filled with dancing and games, will culminate in a display of spectacular themed pyrotechnics, sound effects and lasers.
Star Wars Day at Sea cruises will be on Disney Fantasy sailing out of Port Canaveral on January 9 and 23; February 6 and 20; March 5 and 19; April 2 and 16, 2016. The 7-night Western Caribbean itineraries include Cozumel Mexico, Grand Cayman and Disney’s private Bahamas island, Castaway Cay.
