MS Maasdam has been stranded in Boston Harbor since Saturday, the Fourth of July. The cruise ship departed for Halifax on July 5, Sunday.

Maasdam was on a Canada-New England cruise from Boston to Montreal, while it experienced technical problems with engineering plant shortly after Saturday departure, according to a statement of Holland America Line, released yesterday.

The company said that the ship had been anchored overnight in order to allow for issue's identification and the required approvals for cruising from the USCG (United States Coast Guard) and Lloyd’s Register.

The statement read that regrettably, the call port to Bar Harbor had been cancelled. All hotel services onboard had been operational for passenger services and the ship was completely safe.
